The terms for using Krate, in plain words.

Last updated 2026-09-30. These terms are between you and Krate Labs ("we"). They cover krate.tech, your Krate account, the app gallery, building apps in Krate Studio on the web, and support. The Krate runtime, player and command line are open source: their own licence (MIT or Apache-2.0) is what governs that code, and these terms do not take anything away from it.

Who can use Krate

You must be at least 13 years old to use krate.tech, create an account or publish an app, or older if the law where you live sets a higher age for using online services on your own. If you are under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13; if we learn that an account belongs to one, we delete it.

Your account

You sign in with GitHub, Google or an email link. Keep that sign-in to yourself; what happens under your account is your responsibility. You can sign out everywhere, and ask us to delete your account, from your account page or through support.

What you make is yours

The apps you make with Krate belong to you, and so does the file. The AI that writes an app is the one you choose (for example Claude, ChatGPT or Grok), and what it writes can have mistakes: check an app before you rely on it for anything important.

When you publish an app to the gallery or share a link, you give Krate Labs permission to store it, show it, make copies of it for people who open it, and show its name, screenshot and icon on krate.tech -- only as far as needed to run the gallery and your links. You can unpublish at any time, and that permission ends for new visitors.

What you must not do

Do not publish or share anything you do not have the right to share, anything unlawful, or software meant to harm the people who open it. Do not try to break into Krate, other people's accounts or apps, get round the limits on free building, or overload the build service. We may remove anything that breaks these rules, and close accounts that break them repeatedly, including people who keep posting other people's work (see copyright).

Paid plans

Making apps on your own computer with your own AI is free. If you buy a paid plan on the web, the price and how often it renews are shown before you pay. A plan renews automatically at the end of each month or year, at the price you agreed to, until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from your account, in the same few clicks it took to subscribe; your plan then stays active until the end of the period you paid for and does not renew. We tell you before any price change applies to you. Refunds are given where the law requires them. Your AI provider bills you separately for any AI you bring yourself; that is between you and them.

No guarantees

Krate is provided as it is. We work hard to keep it running and your files safe, but we do not promise that it will always be available or free of mistakes, and apps are made by AI tools we do not control. To the extent the law allows, Krate Labs is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or 50 US dollars if you paid nothing. Nothing here limits rights you have that the law does not allow a contract to take away.
